The process is not always the smoothest. But that was to be expected.
I have to set my launch date back to December/January because of the Hep A booster shot. Though this is not ideal, it might be a blessing in disguise because it will afford more time to prepare and get ready to go.
I have been having a hard time staying in touch with the organization I am going to work with. They are expanding, which is awesome, but response time is not the best. It made me question the validity of NGOabroad and made me wonder if she is swindling me or not. Not good. We talked it out and it seems better, but I still have my guard up a little.
I did my homework and read reviews and the referal source was good, but I do have a tendency to be too trusting at times. Because of this, when my gut tells me something is amiss I have to put on my breaks and reevaluate my situation. It seems the problem was a lack of transparency.
I guess I just do not understand the business of helping people help others. Or at least, not the approach I have been going through.
Business aside. Ann, the coordinator, is very knowlwdgeable and helpful herself. She has given me ideas for publications to read and tips for travel. I will do a travel consult next Weds to make sure I have most, if not all, the information I will need to prepare myself for travel in Africa.
I will also be spending a lot of time at REI asking questions and buying supplies. Adventures in shopping ... jeepers I am not always the most fond of having to shop. So it goes!
